As both farmers and faith leaders know all too well, these words are so often true:
“If anything is certain, it is that change is certain. The world we are planning for today will not exist in this form tomorrow.”
Phil Crosby
About five and a half weeks ago, I was reminded of this reality after my life was completely upended thanks to a severe leg infection that put me in the hospital twice, for a total of eight days. The recovery has been long, painful, and exhausting, and it unfortunately meant that I needed to cancel five of our Faith Farms and Climate conversations. Hopefully, the worst of it all is now past, making it possible to schedule new dates. As a bonus: I’ve added two new opportunities for participating online via Zoom! Here’s our new schedule of events.
Faith Leaders (clergy, church staff, church green team leaders, etc.)
- Wednesday, May 29 – 9:00 – 11:00 AM – Online
- Tuesday, June 4 – 9:00 – 11:00 AM – Boone
- Thursday, June 6 – 1:30-3:30 PM – Panora
Farmers (all farmers, ranchers, landholders & others connected to farming)
- Monday, May 20 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Grinnell
- Wednesday, May 22 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Boone
- Tuesday, May 28 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Online
- Wednesday, May 29 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM – Coralville
* Note: If you live close enough to one of the in-person locations, we encourage you to take part on site if possible.
Our Faith Farms & Climate conversations are opportunities to talk with others about our climate crisis, explore the ways you can take action in your context, and make great connections with other people of faith and conscience. They aren’t political conversations or debates, but rather they are opportunities to talk about what you’re seeing, experiencing, and doing in your own community. A free breakfast or dinner is included, too. The conversations so far this year have been full of great insights, ideas, connections, and hope. Why not take a break from your usual routine and engage in this important and meaningful opportunity?
