We’re growing in so many ways at Iowa Interfaith Power & Light, and the most exciting growth is adding a new amazing person to our staff.
Alli Parker joined our team this month as our program associate. She hit the ground running as we start a new fiscal year September 1. We’re growing our budget. We’re adding new grants and partnerships. And most importantly we’re bringing new supporters into bold and just climate action.
Alli is an amazing emerging leader. She graduated from Simpson College in December 2019, just in time to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. With a major in English and a minor in Environmental Science, she comes well equipped to help inspire Iowans to act.
She grew up in Bellevue, a small town on the Mississippi River. She enjoys being outdoors hiking and biking, plays the piano, and practices yoga. She’s worked at the Science Center of Iowa, as a religious life intern at Simpson College, and as a freelance writer.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to work in an organization that so clearly aligns with my passion. There is immense value in the combination of faith and science; to have a platform that allows me to communicate that value, and to interact with other organizations with a shared vision, makes my work feel inspiring and fulfilling. I am grateful for the chance to spread awareness, and to showcase the power of a combined effort to combat the climate crisis.”
Alli Parker

We are so grateful that Alli Parker has joined the Iowa IPL team.
We are also grateful for the two years that Mary Swalla Holmes helped us as our part time administrative assistant. Her dedication and commitment to our mission went far beyond the few hours a week she put into helping us communicate with our supporters and keeping up the database. She was always willing to jump in and help with whatever we needed, drawing on her decades of experience working with Iowa nonprofits, Iowa State Extension, and people of faith. We look forward to staying connected with Mary as Iowa IPL continues to be part of how she lives out her passion for environmental justice as a supporter and volunteer.
Thank you to all of our supporters. Your investments in empowering Iowans of faith and conscience to take bold and just climate action help keep us growing. And in the case of our new program associate, your support helped us recruit and hire an amazing young leader for environmental justice. Irene and I are so excited to be working with Alli Parker. We know you will be too as you get to know her in the coming weeks and months.
