We are driven by a deep belief that Iowans are living in the most important time to be alive in human history. And while there are challenges on the horizon that if unmet will cause catastrophic, global decline across nearly every human and environmental system, we remain hopeful in our resolve to meet the challenges and lead the world into renewal. We can and must shape human action to embrace the abundance of creation and move beyond the scarcity mindset of the fossil fuel era. When we do this, literally in the next two decades, we will help shape a global community that doesn’t just avoid disaster but becomes better than it has ever been.
Celebrating that resolve is how we came to our new logo which you’ve been seeing in the past months. A good logo evokes more than one reaction. We worked with the team at Aboundant who is also our website partner leading our upcoming update. Here are some themes from our conversation with that amazing team whose business is built on serving faith-based organizations.
The sun is earth’s most important source of energy. We wanted to get the sun in there. Iowa leads in wind powered electric generation. We needed that to be in there. When it comes to growing things on our farms, Iowa’s productivity is unique with one of the largest concentrations of prime farmland in the world. We knew we needed to include that. We also wanted to reference water and air.
So without explaining the logo, we’re offering some insight into our conversation with the designers who helped create it. We encourage you to sit with our new logo and pray into and reflect on what this logo says to you about Iowans of faith and conscience taking bold and just climate action. And feel free to capture your thoughts and share them on social media whenever you see our logo built around a hopeful vision of Iowa’s role in embracing a future of abundance.
