The House version of the Local Generation Act has passed the first funnel! Now we need your help to get it across the finish line and turn it into law. (Read our previous action alert on Community Solar.)
Community solar is a practical and fair solution that expands access to clean energy across Iowa. Many faith communities are ready to participate but simply cannot install solar onsite.
- Houses of worship want access to renewable energy.
- Many congregations cannot install onsite solar.
- Community solar is a fair and practical solution.
- This bill strengthens environmental responsibility and local ministry.
Across Iowa, people of diverse faith and spirituality are working to care for our planet and our neighbors. Many congregations operate historic or aging buildings with high energy costs and limited capital reserves. Community solar allows them to subscribe to a shared local solar project without installing panels onsite. It can also benefit churches with parsonages on the same property, helping lower energy costs for both ministry and clergy housing.
When energy costs rise, ministry dollars are stretched thin. Congregations that host food pantries, provide shelter during extreme weather, offer childcare, and care for neighbors in crisis need stable and affordable energy options.
HF 2672 creates a commonsense and inclusive pathway forward. But it will not become law unless Representatives hear from constituents like you.
It is time to let the sunshine in.
Use our action alert to email your House Representative today. It takes less than a minute, and your voice can help move HF 2672 across the finish line and get this bill signed into law.
