Tuesday, November 28th marks my one-year anniversary with Iowa IPL, which also happens to be this year’s Giving Tuesday. My first year with Iowa IPL has been a busy one, full of opportunities for work, growth, reflection, and enjoying life’s simple gifts.

Over the last year, I have experienced a lot of change and growth that has taken me in new directions. I have felt extremely grateful for being able to take the time to focus on my own healthy habits, routines, and reflect on what feels meaningful to me: Getting back into the arts, making elaborate meals with fresh produce, and setting aside time to spend with friends and family around the winter fire pit. I have learned the importance of expressing gratitude for the little things in life that bring me joy on a day-to-day basis; the simple gifts that make the bulk of my life meaningful.

Working with Iowa IPL has allowed me to further align my work with my values, as well as the simple gifts that I cherish. As a farmer and clean energy advocate, I am in awe of how much we have accomplished during my first year. We have launched new action alerts and educational content supporting a Faithful Farm Bill, advocated for clean and renewable energy through our work with the Clean Up MidAm Campaign, uplifted faithful policy practices during the 2023 Legislative Session, and of course, collaborated with our 2023 Called to Climate Action Students to create this year’s faith statement. I continue to feel grateful for this work; for the simple gifts I am both creating and experiencing.

On this Giving Tuesday, I ask you to consider giving a grateful gift to Iowa IPL. Your gifts allow us to continue our ever-important and necessary work. With supporters like you, we can create a better future for Iowans through clean renewable energy, uplifting the voices of our farmers, and advocating for all of those who live in our state. Together we can build a sustainable future for Iowa. Together we can share and enjoy life’s simple gifts.
