Looking for something fun your family, faith community or other group can do together this summer? Here’s a way to creatively tell the world what you’re doing to care for creation and our climate, using one of our “I’m Sprouting Climate Action” images.
Instructions
First, pick one of our goofy graphics and print it out. We have several you can choose from. Here are Canva templates if you use that tool, and here are PDFs. Alternatively, draw your own “sprout” image, adding googly eyes for extra fun. Feel free to be creative with the text, such as:
- “We’re sprouting faith & action this summer!”
- “This sprout cares for our climate.”
- “Small actions. Big growth.”
- “Sprouting love for the Earth”
- “[Congregation name] is Sprouting Climate Action”

Next, cut out your graphic, then paste it onto a piece of cardboard, a cereal box you’re recycling, or whatever else you can find. Add a popsicle stick, pencil, or even a stick from a local forest.
Third, next time you’re engaged in some sort of climate action, have someone take a photo of you with your “sprout.” Here are some examples of times and places you could take a photo.
- Cooking a meal with locally-purchased or garden-grown veggies
- Writing a letter about the urgent need to protect our planet to a Senator or Representative
- Driving your electric vehicle
- Charging your devices with a portable solar panel
- Engaging in outdoor activities that require no electricity
- Standing next to your community or pollinator garden
- Digging in a compost bin
- Sprouting out of a reusable shopping bag
- Hiking with friends in a forest
- Getting food at a neighborhood potluck
- Hanging your laundry on a clothesline
- Biking to a store for daily essentials
- Reading a climate-related book
Finally, be sure to post your photo on your social media platforms and/or send it to info@iowafaithandclimate.org. Use hashtags #sproutclimateaction #iowafaithandclimate.
We can’t wait to see how you sprout climate action this summer!
