This video is the fourth in series of 8 videos from an event called “Climate-informed Ministry: What Do We Do Now?” It features Karin Stein, Iowa Coordinator for Moms Clean Air Force, a national organization of over 1.5 million members dedicated to protecting children from air pollution and the climate crisis. Before moving to Kellogg, Iowa, in 1980, Karin, a Colombian citizen, lived in Costa Rica. The granddaughter of German immigrants to South America, she grew up on a remote, off-the-grid cattle and rice farm in the eastern plains of Colombia, where she was homeschooled. She traces her understanding of the earth as an interconnected organism to her first 11 years in the wilderness and by having spent her entire life in rural areas in the Americas. She obtained a B.A. in biology from Grinnell College and a M.S. in horticulture from Iowa State University. She and her siblings direct a watershed conservation foundation in Costa Rica. Karin has been a nationally and internationally touring musician for 21 years, and she recently started an initiative to reduce the environmental impact of the performing arts.
