For me, October always feels like a sigh of relief. With it comes vibrant colors, cooler weather, and Halloween (my absolute favorite time of year). This year, October also brings with it election season – anything but a sigh of relief! For many of us, election season can bring a bit of the heeby-jeebies, especially when so much is at stake, including our environment. This is why voting is so important – now more than ever.
We have seen unprecedented weather events all across the country this year, from tornados here at home, to the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene in the southeast last week. As we share this newsletter with you, Hurricane Milton is already a Category 5 storm scheduled to hit Florida tonight. It is safe to say that we are in the thick of it – the time for climate action is now and that means voting this election season.
Faith Votes is a nonpartisan campaign of National Interfaith Power & Light that allows you to check your voter registration, make a pledge to vote, and research everything on your ballot. The voting process can be a stressful one. With Faith Votes, you can see all your voting details in one place. Utilizing our right to vote is bold and just climate action. Make your plan today!
Election season can be an overwhelming time, so I hope you take some time to breathe in the beauty of the season as well. Plan to vote for climate action while enjoying the beautiful fall foliage. (Be sure to sip some apple cider too.)
Blessings,
