Lent is a season of truth-telling, repentance, and renewal. It’s also a powerful time to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for God’s creation.
Turning Together: A Lenten Framework for Faithful Climate Action is a new, free resource from Iowa Faith & Climate Network designed to help individuals, congregations, and small groups engage the climate crisis through faith-rooted practices during the Lenten season. Organized around weekly “Pillars of Climate Faithfulness” and grounded in the Year A lectionary*, this resource invites participants to move through Lent together, from Ash Wednesday through Holy Week and Easter.

Each week includes scripture, a very short reflection, one truth to hold onto, suggested practices for individuals and communities, and questions for reflection or discussion. The framework is intentionally simple and adaptable so that it is possible to use in worship, small groups, classes, newsletters, or at home. *Although it focuses on the lectionary texts, congregations that do not use the lectionary will still find it can be adapted for their use.
Included with the resource are a 10-page document (PDF and DOCX formats), plus a theme image and weekly images for worship slides or other uses.
Rather than asking people to fix everything on their own (which of course we cannot do), Turning Together emphasizes shared practices of reorientation, prayer, learning, restraint, repair, and advocacy—all rooted in faith and sustained by community. We hope this resource will serve as a companion for anyone seeking to live faithfully, honestly, and hopefully in a time of climate disruption.
