Claira Miller, Faith Farms and Climate Fellow

Iowa IPL is happy to announce the return of Claira Miller! One of our 2021 Called to Climate Action student leaders, Claira has been promoted this summer to a Faith Farms & Climate Fellow. Hear more about Claira in her own words:

“Hello! My name is Claira Miller, and I am currently majoring in Animal Science at Iowa State University. I grew up on an acreage in Colo, Iowa, and have been invested in agriculture through programs such as 4-H and FFA. Last summer, I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with Iowa IPL through the Called to Climate Action college program, where I was able to discuss and explore climate action. This summer, I am excited to be back as a Faith Farms & Climate Fellow, and continue my path in climate justice. I had a blast as I attended the Rural Energy Field Day on Friday, June 10th, hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs and Iowa IPL at Griffieon Family Farm. As my first opportunity to attend a climate-based discussion around farming in person, I had an incredible time meeting new faces and listening to my agricultural community. I am beyond excited to explore where the remainder of this summer will take me, and all the individuals I have yet to meet. I look forward to the future of agriculture and what this means to our farmers.”

The Faith Farms & Climate Fellowship works to help coordinate the summer activities of the Faith Farms & Climate program, specifically focusing on implementing events in our four rural target areas for 2022: Washington, Waverly, Storm Lake, and Atlantic. Claira will be aiding Iowa IPL in planning and executing summer Faith Farms & Climate events, tabling at Iowa IPL-sponsored field days, blogging and social media posting, and more!

Claira is a bright and driven individual committed to climate action and the future of sustainable agriculture, and we can’t wait to continue to showcase her skills this summer.
